The more technical, fast and steeper race courses of recent years have demanded the re-thinking of XC bike designs. With agile handling the focus, we’ve created a machine that will take anyone from World Cup stars to XC amateurs a few steps closer to their goals. Adjustments to the head angle, reach, stack, chainstays and fork offsets come together to improve its responsiveness and control. As for dropper posts, both short-travel XC posts and full-length options for 30.9mm seat tubes are accommodated. The slack head angle and customised fork offset are engineered to optimise handling, maintaining dexterity on even the most technical courses.

Our spectacular Brain 2.0 technology sits close to the rear axle for optimised efficiency and comfort. It is an updated version of the existing Brain tech re-developed with the guys at RockShox. It changed the way the cycling world treated suspension by introducing a component which reacts to the terrain as it arises, seamlessly absorbing lumps and bumps with more consistency. Furthermore, the hoses are integrated into the suspension linkage improving oil paths and fostering a beautifully sleek aesthetic.

With the goal of creating the fastest XC mountain bike on the planet, we’ve targeted stiffness and light weight. The Rider-First Engineered frame of the S-Works Epic gets a stiffness upgrade thanks to the complex carbon pieces inserted into sensitive places and the ride quality is vastly improved as a consequence, all built into size-specific tubing for consistency in performance throughout the size range. As for weight, the frame is around 350 grams lighter than earlier models by virtue of its frame design, carbon layup and integrated routing.
