Ibis created the HD5 to be the ultimate 27.5” brawler. The new bike features 153mm of rear travel like its little brother the HD4, but comes stock with a 170mm front fork that sits at 64.2 degrees. As with most current Ibis bikes, the seat-tube sits at 76 degrees and it features clearance for long dropper posts. Newly added internal cable tubes make servicing your cables much easier and Ibis also incorporated a Ripmo style lower link to reduce maintenance. As a final touch, Ibis increased the reach on every HD5 by 20mm compared to the HD4.

At the heart of every Ibis full suspension bike is the DW-Link. DW was designed by Dave Weagle who is arguably the most renowned mountain bike suspension designer in the world. The DW-link design uses anti-squat to eliminate suspension bob, which minimizes pedal feedback caused by suspension movement. The design balances the effects of acceleration and braking forces providing improved traction and efficiency. If you want a bike that climbs amazing and showcases great small bump sensitivity and tracking, a DW-Link bike should be at the top of your list.
The HD5 is Ibis’ first platform to feature “Traction Tuned Suspension”. The custom tuned suspension features extra light high-speed compression and rebound dampening which delivers unparalleled traction on the trail. The DW-Link suspension design doesn’t require loads of compression dampening to control pedal bob because the suspension kinematics take care of it. The result of the light compression tune is a bike that flutters over all terrain, making all conditions feel like hero dirt.
