Now everyone knows that mountain bikers have strong opinions on wheel sizes. To quote the hilarious Youtube video How to be a Mounter Biker by IFHT Films, “pick a wheel size and be a di*k about it”. With the 2020 Intense Primer, the days of a specific bike only being available with one wheel size are over. Want a 29er? Great! Want a 27.5 play bike? Also great! Want to be like all those EWS and DH pros and run a “mullet” bike? You can do that too! The Intense Primer 2020 comes in both major wheel sizes and even a mix of both. If you looked at an Intense bike from several years past, you’d find a VPP decal near the rear shock. VPP stands for Virtual Pivot Point and is one of the most renowned suspension designs in mountain biking. Several years ago, Intense Founder, Jeff Steber decided to take VPP and improve upon it. The result is JS-Tuned suspension, which is present on the entire 2020 line of Intense bikes. JS-Tuned still uses two short counter-rotating links, but now the new “trail-link” system present on the Primer provides efficient pedaling on the top of the travel without losing any small bump sensitivity while descending. Achieving both of these suspension characteristics is as ideal as it gets.

A Fox Factory 34 fork up front and Fox Factory DPX2 rear shock smooth out the roughest trails, the wide range SRAM X01/GX Eagle drivetrain gives you all the gears you need to climb the steepest hills and sprint past every finish line, the Shimano XT M8020 hydraulic brakes give you exceptional stopping power when the ride gets too rowdy, and E*Thirteen LG1 Enduro Race wheels wrapped with Maxxis High Roller II and Maxxis Aggressor tires provide you with a tubeless setup for ultimate traction and control.
